Club Road Bike Guidelines
If you choose to join Boulder Cycling Club for one of our Road Bike rides, we ask you to adhere to the following guidelines
Arrive on time with your helmet, water bottle, spare tube, and properly inflated tires. Rides depart at about 10 minutes after scheduled ride time. Please make sure your bike is in good mechanical order prior to arrival.
It’s a group ride, not an individual ride. Group means you should be willing to participate with the group and adhere to group dynamics. We encourage the group to stay together as much as possible. If you like to ride by yourself, race at your own pace, or have difficulty following the directions of the ride leader then perhaps a BCC Road Bike ride is not for you.
BCC Road Bike rides feature a “no drop policy.” We are a social club not a race club. We promote safe riding in a cooperative atmosphere to build camaraderie. No drop doesn’t necessarily mean someone will ride with you, it means we will wait up for you at points along the way. No drop also means we will try to assist you (within reason) with any mechanical problems you encounter along the way–such as a flat tire.
Adhere to the minimum pace. The minimum pace is clearly stated either on the web site and/or will be clearly communicated prior to the start of the ride. If you are unable to keep up with the minimum pace, the ride leader may inform you that we are unable to wait up for you.
Please be courteous to your fellow riders and the ride leader. The ride leader reserves the right to ask anyone who is discourteous to a fellow rider to leave the ride.
Be prepared to adhere to the Ride Leaders route. Ride leaders are volunteers. They usually take the time to prepare the routes including pre-riding them. If you think you have a better route, then we welcome you to join the club and lead a ride yourself. We are always looking for ride leaders!
Please bring a proper attitude. If you are willing to follow our guidelines, are respectful to your fellow riders, and demonstrate a willingness to become a stronger rider then chances are good we can find a way to accommodate you.
If you decide to leave the ride for any reason, please inform the ride leader.
And most importantly, HAVE FUN! It’s always more fun to ride in a group or you wouldn’t have shown up in the first place. There something about riding a bike that brings smile to ones face.
